Diabetic Nurse Educator- Yearly fixed term contract :

Opportunity for Diabetic Nurse Educator for T1DI project in Endocrinology department for our Hospital in Mahim on Yearly Fixed term contract.

Location:Mahim

Qualification: BSc Nursing, Additional qualifications appropriate to the position are desirable, Valid Maharashtra Nursing Registration.

Experience: Minimum 01 Year

Job Description:

•   Educational And Administrative Functions in relation to Diabetic Patients care:
•   Planning individualistic therapeutic diet charts for patients as per their medical condition.
•   Thoroughly counselling the patients and their relatives regarding their diet
•   Develop collaterals and informative material about diet, to be given to patients, and for distribution during community outreach programs and online media
•   Provide insights in T1DI research
•   Having one to one communication with non-compliant patients for their better compliance to care both on floors and in the O.P.D.
•   Teaching newly diagnosed patients the technique of insulin administration.
•   Conducting Patient Education Programs every alternate month on various aspects of diabetes
•   Conducting interactive sessions for diabetic patients via maps and movies related to diabetes and its management.
•   Educating patients both on a one to one basis as well as in groups about the following:
•   Causes of diabetes
•   Signs and symptoms of diabetes
•   Exercise and its importance in controlling blood sugar
•  Complications of Diabetes including hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia foot care, eye care, kidney care, weight management etc.
•   Technique of using an insulin syringe , insulin pen ,glucometer
•   Self Monitoring of blood sugar
•  Assisting in conducting T1DI research
•   Assisting in designing collaterals for diabetic patient education
•   General functions:
•   May assist nurses with orienting/instructing nursing staff regarding diabetic care
•  Conducting audits as directed
•   Maintaining files for newly diagnosed patient
